Should I Go Out Tonight?

How often has your pelvic pain, IC, vulvodynia, prevented you from enjoying a night out with friends, family, or date night?

It’s bad enough that it has impacted your sex life, but does it really need to dictate your social life?

I wish there was a magical pill I could tell you about that allows every night to be magical but PP is one of the most painful non-life-threatening condition known to the medical community.

Let me give you some tips in order to go out.

First, forget the tiny pretty little purses.  That isn’t for you.  And you know what, that is ok.  I carry a back-pack purse full of my emergency kit items, but hey, I get to go out and have fun with the security of knowing what I need for a flare is just an arm’s reach away.

Second, bring your own water. You need water that will lower your acidic levels, preferably arrowheador Evian water.  You can also buy alkalinizing water tablets or drops.

Thirdly, drink some aloe vera before you go out. It will coat your stomach and bladder lining. For my body, it stops bladder spasms and has been one of the best findings in achieving health.

Fourth, pack extra panties.  If you get sweaty, change your panties.  When you need to use the bathroom, change your panties.  The sweat in your private area can cause all sorts of mischief, so change them frequently.  I bought a pouch that can hold 5 panties at a time.

Fifth, bring your antihistamines (See article on histamines)

Sixth, don’t drink or eat items that you know will set off another flare.

Seventh, bring your pain meds. Even if you don’t need them, have them available for your own security as well as preparing an exit strategy.

Getting out is half the battle.  Give yourself a push to try but be ok with yourself if you have to leave.  Your body, your health!
