It can be tough to find healthy foods to eat that doesn’t aggravate your body. The two health groups that dictate what I can or cannot eat are histamines and oxalates. Unfortunately, not all information out there is up to date. I recommend doing an elimination diet and keeping a food diary. For more on how to do this, contact me.

Quick List:

High Oxalates: black pepper, spinach, rhubarb, nuts, beets, buckwheat, swiss chard, whole sesame seeds, chocolate soy milk.

Histamine:

canned, fermented foods, leftovers or re-heated foods, matured cheeses, sauerkraut, spinach, tomatoes, legumes, pickles, nuts, vinegar, soy sauce, soy milk, cocoa, certain fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, citrus.

The good news is that some of the foods to avoid are on both lists! However, if you are dealing with IBS or SIBO, there is another list of foods to avoid, like high FODMAPs. We will cover those later.

Here are just a few recipes to get you started.
